FM: Israel killed Iran's security council head Larijani "for free"
Israeli Foreign Minister Gideon Sa’ar declared that Israel had successfully killed Ali Larijani, one of Iran’s most senior officials, in an air strike—without any financial reward.
“Larijani was also under US sanctions for the same reason, with a $10 million prize on his head—we did it for free," Sa'ar said at a briefing, Clash Report informs.
He criticised the Iranian government for its failure to account for senior officials, describing the situation as “an embarrassment for the regime.” He noted that they are yet to see the new leader Mojtaba Khamenei.
Sa’ar stressed that while Iran’s future ultimately depends on its own people, external support is necessary for them to achieve liberation. He also accused the Lebanese government of doing nothing to curb Hezbollah.
The strike was confirmed earlier by Israeli Defence Minister Israel Katz, though Iran has not yet commented on Larijani’s reported death.
On March 13, the U.S. State Department’s Rewards for Justice programme offered up to $10 million, along with relocation options, for information on the whereabouts of 10 senior figures, including Iran’s new Supreme Leader Mojtaba Khamenei.
Other officials on the U.S. list include Deputy Chief of Staff Ali Asghar Hejazi, Military Adviser Maj. Gen. Yahya Rahim Safavi, Interior Minister Brig. Gen. Eskandar Momeni, Minister of Intelligence and Security Esmail Khatib, and Larijani, who served as secretary of the Supreme National Security Council.
