Asad Shaibani, the foreign minister of Syria’s new government, declared that Syria and Türkiye are beginning a new historical era.
This statement was made during a joint press conference following the conclusion of the 3+3 talks, Caliber.Az reports via Turkish media.
The conference included Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan, National Defence Minister Yaşar Güler, National Intelligence Organization (MİT) head Ibrahim Kalın, Syrian Defence Minister Murhaf Abu Qasra, and Syrian intelligence chief Anas Khattab.
During the press conference, Shaibani expressed his gratitude to Türkiye and its people for their continued support since the "revolution in Syria."
He emphasized that the new chapter in relations between the two countries is rooted in brotherhood and will play a key role in ensuring stability and security in the region.
Shaibani also addressed the ongoing efforts of the new administration to heal the wounds of the Syrian people, stressing the significance of Syria’s territorial integrity.
"Our territorial unity is very important. We want all our territories to be under the central government. This is crucial for restoring Syria's unity and sovereignty," Shaibani said.
He added that relations between Türkiye and Syria will soon expand in various sectors.
"The new administration believes that Syrian territory should not pose a threat to Türkiye and the Turkish people," he stated.
Shaibani concluded by thanking Türkiye for its support of the new Syrian administration.
