Former Israeli chief military prosecutor hospitalised after taking sleeping pill
Former Israeli Chief Military Prosecutor, Major General (Res.) Iffat Tomer-Yerushalmi, who is under investigation, was hospitalised after taking a sleeping pill, reports Kan.
According to unnamed sources, Tomer-Yerushalmi called an ambulance “after taking a sleeping pill.” Medical personnel transported her to Ichilov Hospital in Tel Aviv, and her life is not in danger, the report noted.
The Jerusalem Post stated that the official was found by medics “in a semi-conscious state.” Hospital representatives confirmed that Tomer-Yerushalmi is now “alert and conscious.”
The incident occurred a few days after she was released from house arrest. Prior to that, Tomer-Yerushalmi had gone missing, according to her relatives. Her car was later found on a beach in northern Tel Aviv, with a note discovered nearby.
The senior official had been detained in connection with a scandal over her involvement in the leak of a video to the media. The footage, reportedly recorded in summer 2024, showed abuse of a Palestinian prisoner from Gaza in Israel’s Sde-Tayman prison. It was also noted that the soldiers involved in the incident avoided criminal prosecution.
Tomer-Yerushalmi, who resigned from her post as IDF Chief Legal Advisor, is suspected of obstructing the investigation and abusing her position of trust.
