French national assembly to vote on impeachment proposal against Macron
The Bureau of the French National Assembly is set to consider a proposal on October 8, to launch proceedings aimed at removing President Emmanuel Macron from office.
The initiative was put forward by the left-wing party La France Insoumise – New Popular Front group and has been signed by 104 deputies, the party's president Mathilde Panot said, Caliber.Az reports via French media.
The leader of the parliamentary faction behind the motion, stated that the proposal reflects growing public discontent, noting that around 70% of French citizens reportedly support Macron’s departure. She expressed hope that the Assembly’s Bureau would deem the impeachment resolution admissible and allow it to proceed through formal channels.

In statements made both on social media and in a television interview, Panot emphasised the mounting political pressure facing the president, arguing that Macron no longer enjoys the legitimacy to govern effectively.
This move comes amid escalating political turmoil in France, marked most recently by the resignation of Prime Minister Sébastien Lecornu on October 6 — just weeks after his appointment. Lecornu is the third prime minister to step down in less than a year, underscoring the deepening instability within Macron's administration.
Despite the growing calls for his resignation, President Macron has repeatedly affirmed his intention to remain in office until the end of his term in 2027. However, recent opinion polls indicate that nearly three-quarters of the French electorate believe he should step down.
