Fuel prices in France hit new high since start of Iran war
Fuel prices in France have reached their highest levels since the start of the Middle East conflict following the war in Iran, with SP95-E10 and SP98 petrol rising by 19% and 17% respectively since the end of February.
The average price of SP95-E10 stood at 2.046 euros per litre on May 17, about 33 cents higher than on February 27, just before strikes on Iran, Caliber.Az reports, citing French media.
SP98 rose to 2.139 euros per litre, gaining more than 31 cents over the same period.
Diesel remains expensive at 2.145 euros per litre, although still below its peak of 2.387 euros recorded in April.
Amid rising prices, France is also seeing a decline in fuel consumption. Prime Minister Sébastien Lecornu said that fuel sales revenue fell by around 300 million euros in the first 10 days of May due to a nearly 30% drop in demand.
