Gas pipeline explodes in US state of Louisiana, one hurt VIDEO
One person was injured in a gas pipeline explosion in the U.S. state of Louisiana on February 3.
The incident occurred on February the coast of the Gulf of Mexico, Caliber.Az reports, citing local television station KPLC.
The pipeline is part of the infrastructure of the Delfin LNG project, which focuses on natural gas production in the Gulf waters and its supply in liquefied form to both the U.S. and global markets.
According to local authorities, a column of fire was visible from more than 30 kilometers away. As a precaution, students at a school located 9 kilometers from the explosion site were temporarily moved to a shelter. The injured person was an employee of Delfin LNG.
The explosion did not cause serious damage. Firefighters quickly brought the blaze under control, and gas flow through the pipeline was shut off to allow the gas mixture to burn off. Police are investigating the incident.
