Gaza ceasefire signing ceremony scheduled for October 13
A formal signing ceremony for the Gaza ceasefire agreement is set to take place on Monday, October 13. The event, which will also include the official agreement for the release of hostages, is expected to draw participation from several international leaders.
Among those invited is Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni, who is expected to attend the ceremony. Italian Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Antonio Tajani confirmed the invitation during an appearance on the Rai 3 program ReStart, Caliber.Az reports.
“The grand official signing ceremony of the ceasefire is expected to take place on October 13. Our Prime Minister will also be invited,” Tajani stated, adding that the formal invitation would be sent out later in the day following a conversation with Egypt’s foreign minister the previous night.
In the background of these developments, US President Donald Trump is also expected to visit Israel to attend the ceremony. According to Israeli broadcaster Channel 12, Trump is scheduled to land at Ben Gurion Airport shortly after 9 a.m. local time (10 a.m. GMT+4) on October 13. He will be welcomed with an official ceremony before heading directly to the Knesset in Jerusalem, where he is slated to deliver a speech.
Israel’s government ratified a ceasefire with Hamas on October 10, paving the way to suspend hostilities in Gaza within 24 hours and free Israeli hostages within 72 hours.
The cabinet approved the deal roughly a day after mediators announced the agreement, which includes the release of Israeli hostages in exchange for Palestinian prisoners and a phased withdrawal of Israeli troops under US President Donald Trump’s initiative to end the two-year war.
