Georgia investigates terrorist attack plot against ruling party's chairman
The Georgian State Security Service (GSSS) has launched an investigation into a potential terrorist attack targeting Bidzina Ivanishvili, the founder and honorary chairman of the ruling Georgian Dream-Democratic Georgia party, along with other senior party officials.
The investigation is underway, with the court conducting interviews as part of the case, Caliber.Az reports citing the Georgian TV channel.
The questioning involved several individuals, including Georgian citizens who had previously fought in Ukraine.
Gela Kakhabrishvili, a former combatant in Ukraine, confirmed to journalists that the investigation indeed concerns a plot against Ivanishvili. The inquiry aims to uncover details regarding the preparation of this alleged terrorist attack.
Bidzina Ivanishvili officially returned to politics for the third time on December 30, 2023, becoming honorary chairman of the Georgian Dream party.
