Russia’s State Duma vote count: Four parties clear threshold

Russia’s Central Election Commission has released updated results from the State Duma elections, with 79.08% of ballots counted. Four political parties have so far surpassed the 5% threshold required to win seats in the federal party-list contest.

According to the latest figures, the ruling United Russia party is leading with 57.69% of the vote. It is followed by the Communist Party of the Russian Federation (CPRF) with 13.96%, the Liberal Democratic Party of Russia (LDPR) with 8.75%, and New People with 7.97%, Caliber.Az reports per Russian media.

The Fair Russia party is currently just below the electoral threshold, receiving 4.98% of the federal party-list vote. Several other parties have also failed to reach the 5% requirement, including the Pensioners’ Party, the Greens, Communists of Russia, Rodina, and the Direct Democracy Party.

The final composition of the State Duma will also depend on results in 225 single-member districts, which are contested separately from the party-list vote. Based on the results counted so far, United Russia candidates are leading in 208 districts.

Fair Russia candidates are ahead in four districts, while CPRF and independent candidates are tied for second place in the number of districts where they are currently leading. LDPR candidates are ahead in two districts, while a Rodina candidate leads in one. In two districts, no votes had been counted at the time of the latest update.

Meanwhile, the fully counted results of the Novgorod Regional Duma election show a broader distribution of parties. All ballots have been counted, with seven parties securing representation through the regional party-list contest, Russian media writes.

The 32-seat regional legislature includes 12 seats allocated through party lists and 20 through single-member districts. The parties that crossed the 5% threshold were:

• United Russia — 38.37%

• CPRF — 14.54%

• LDPR — 12.01%

• New People — 9.87%

• Fair Russia — 7.70%

• Yabloko — 6.20%

• Pensioners’ Party — 5.50%

 The region was also the only one in Russia where Yabloko was admitted to participate in the regional elections, according to the reported election data.
