Georgia sentences Ukrainian nationals over explosives smuggling case
A court in Tbilisi has sentenced two Ukrainian nationals to 7 and 10 years in prison for bringing explosives into Georgia, finding both defendants guilty of illegal import, possession and transfer of detonating materials, as well as possession of a large quantity of cocaine.
In September 2025, one of the accused brought 2.4 kg of explosives in a truck from Ukraine via Türkiye and handed them over to the second suspect, Caliber.Az reports, citing Georgian media.
Both were detained during the transfer.
The driver reportedly received instructions from an unidentified individual in Ukraine.
It remains unclear whether Georgia was the final destination or a transit country.
Authorities also seized eight mobile phones, a large sum of money, and various computer equipment.
