Georgia, Türkiye condemn Western double standards, external interference
As part of a visit to Ankara, Nikoloz Samkharadze, Chairman of Georgia’s Parliamentary Committee on Foreign Relations, vehemently denounced the unacceptable external interference in domestic affairs shared by both Georgia and Türkiye, while also criticizing the pronounced double standards demonstrated by Western nations concerning legislation like the “foreign agents” law.
Samkharadze highlighted the disparity in Western approaches, noting, “What may be acceptable in Europe or America is somehow considered bad in Georgia or Türkiye,” Caliber.Az reports, citing Georgian media.
The Georgian MP emphasized that the meeting with Turkish counterparts reaffirmed a mutual stance against foreign interference, which he described as an increasingly prevalent and troubling trend. “Unfortunately, this is a new trend and more and more often foreign actors interfere in domestic politics,” Samkharadze said.
The discussions primarily focused on the ongoing conflicts and wars in the region, reflecting shared concerns about regional stability and security challenges.
