German chancellor eyes stronger cooperation with Türkiye ahead of talks
German Chancellor Friedrich Merz underscored the depth and breadth of Germany’s relationship with Türkiye ahead of his scheduled talks in Ankara, emphasizing cooperation across multiple strategic sectors.
Merz took to X to highlight the multifaceted nature of German-Turkish relations, Caliber.Az reports.

“Germany and Türkiye share special and multifaceted relations. This includes foreign policy and security issues, as well as migration, energy, and trade,” the Chancellor stated, signaling the wide-ranging agenda for his upcoming visit.
Merz further confirmed that he would meet with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan during the trip. “I want to further expand our close partnership. That is why I am going to Ankara,” he wrote, emphasizing his commitment to strengthening bilateral cooperation and advancing shared priorities.
