Germany secures European support to send Patriot missiles to Ukraine — media
German Defence Minister Boris Pistorius has reached an agreement with several European partners to supply Ukraine with 30 PAC-3 missiles for Patriot air-defence systems, Der Spiegel reports, citing informed sources.
Together with a few missiles from Germany’s own Bundeswehr stockpiles, Ukraine will receive approximately 35 PAC-3 missiles in total. The exact delivery timeline has not been disclosed.
At the Munich Security Conference, Pistorius proposed that Germany would provide its own PAC-3 missiles to Kyiv if other European countries collectively contributed 30 missiles. Several countries, including the Netherlands, reportedly expressed willingness to participate.
Der Spiegel noted that the situation underscores Kyiv’s urgent need for Patriot missiles. The conflict involving Iran has further complicated procurement efforts. Ukraine reportedly uses an average of 60 Patriot missiles per month, meaning the newly secured supply will last roughly half a month.
