Hanover nursing home fire leaves 25 injured, investigation underway
A fire broke out at a nursing home in Hanover, Germany, on March 29, injuring 25 people.
Initial reports had suggested over 50 victims, but the figure was later revised, Caliber.Az reports via German media.
The fire, which occurred in the afternoon, was first detected by medical staff who noticed smoke in one of the rooms. The staff immediately alerted the fire department. One of the injured is in critical condition, while two others sustained serious injuries due to smoke inhalation.
Authorities confirmed that the fire caused significant damage to the upper floor of the building, rendering it uninhabitable. As a result, 16 residents had to be relocated to other rooms. The nursing home, which houses nearly 100 people, had to quickly adjust to the emergency situation.
"The police have launched an investigation to determine the cause of the fire. At present, there is no information regarding the extent of the damage," a fire service representative said.
