Hezbollah destroys five Israeli tanks, downs four UAVs in recent offensive
Hezbollah has reported conducting a series of 36 military operations on October 22, targeting various Israeli military installations.
These operations resulted in the destruction of five Merkava tanks and the downing of four Hermes unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) in just one week, with the latest drone being shot down over the town of Jibchit, Caliber.Az reports, citing foreign media.
The drone was reportedly seen spiralling down in flames.
The operations are framed as a defensive response to Israeli military incursions and are intended to support the Palestinian people amid ongoing tensions. Hezbollah’s statement emphasised that the actions were in direct retaliation for Israeli aggression against civilians.
Israeli military officials confirmed the death of two of their soldiers due to clashes near the Lebanese-Palestinian border. One of them was a soldier from the 91st Division's 7338th Reserve Artillery Brigade, killed near Neot Mordechai by rocket fire originating from Lebanon.
Additionally, three reservists from the same battalion sustained serious injuries from the rocket strikes.
In another incident, Major Aviram Hariv, deputy commander of the 9308th Battalion within the 146th Division's 228th Reserve Infantry Brigade, was killed in southern Lebanon.
Reports from Israeli media indicate that Ziv Medical Centre in Safad, located in northern occupied Palestine, received 14 injured Israeli troops on October 22 alone. The recent uptick in hostilities has heightened tensions in the region, with Hezbollah's military operations reflecting a broader conflict dynamic that continues to unfold.
