Hezbollah launches large-scale rocket attacks on Kiryat Ata, Haifa VIDEO

27 September 2024 18:30

Israeli sites in the northern occupied territories faced intense rocket fire as Lebanon's Islamic Resistance, Hezbollah, intensified its operations in support of the Palestinian people and the defence of Lebanon and its citizens.

Hezbollah announced that it targeted the Kiryat Ata settlement with a barrage of Fadi-1 rockets. These 220 mm caliber rockets, launched from a multiple rocket launcher (MRL), have a maximum range of 80 km and were featured in the Imad 4 video, Caliber.Az reports per foreign media.

The Israeli army spokesperson reported that "a barrage of 10 rockets was fired from Lebanon at Haifa," activating sirens in the northern coastal city and its suburbs. Israeli media further noted that repeated sirens were heard across the north, particularly in Haifa, Akka, Tabaria, the Golan Heights, and the Jordan Valley. Loud explosions echoed in Haifa as three rockets landed in the area, causing injuries among civilians. Additionally, two rockets struck the port of Haifa.

Reports indicated that a rocket targeting Tabaria aimed at a water pumping station but landed several meters away from it.

Local officials expressed deep concern over the situation. Amichai Ben Shlush, the head of the local council in Akka, highlighted the almost deserted streets and uncertainty about how long residents can endure the ongoing conflict. Similarly, Yona Yahav, the head of the Haifa local council, mentioned that the economy has suffered due to Hezbollah's attacks, resulting in empty streets.

In a related development, Hezbollah had launched 130 rockets in two operations on September 19 in retaliation for Israeli aggression against Lebanon. Despite the Israeli government's numerous airstrikes targeting Hezbollah's weapons depots and rocket launchers in recent days, the Resistance continues to respond with rocket attacks, some fired from frontline positions.

The situation in Lebanon remains dire, with Israeli airstrikes causing significant civilian casualties. Since the onset of hostilities on October 8, over 1,200 people have died and more than 5,200 have been injured, many of them civilians, including women and children. The majority of these casualties occurred in the last four days as Israeli operations intensified. The aggression continues to target residential areas, homes, and businesses throughout Lebanon.
