Hezbollah says it hit Israeli armoured vehicles in southern Lebanon
Hezbollah has said its fighters carried out an operation against Israeli forces in southern Lebanon, claiming that three armoured vehicles were disabled during the engagement, according to a statement released on the group’s Telegram channel.
“Early this morning, the Islamic Resistance forces ambushed an enemy armoured and infantry platoon on their route north of the Ali Taher heights,” the statement said. “As a result of the attack, three enemy Merkava tanks were hit by guided missiles; reinforcements have been sent to the area to evacuate the wounded.”
The group added that clashes with Israeli forces were continuing near the town of Nabatieh, saying its fighters were resisting attempts by the Israeli military to secure control of the strategic Ali-Taher heights, which overlook surrounding areas.
Separately, Israeli military sources earlier reported that a battalion commander and three soldiers were killed and five others wounded in an attack attributed to Hezbollah in southern Lebanon.
The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) also said it had carried out airstrikes on Hezbollah targets in Lebanon’s Bekaa Valley, describing the action as a response to repeated ceasefire violations.
“In response to repeated ceasefire violations by Hezbollah, the IDF carried out strikes against Hezbollah targets in the Bekaa Valley,” the military said in a statement.
