Hormuz disruptions hit fertilizer supplies to Kyrgyzstan, president says
The situation in the Strait of Hormuz has impacted shipments of mineral fertilizers to Kyrgyzstan, President Sadyr Japarov said.
The president noted that fertilizer shortages are being felt across all regions of the country, Caliber.Az reports, citing Kyrgyz media.
He added that such products were previously imported from Russia, Kazakhstan, and Uzbekistan.
“However, due to restrictions on supplies through the Strait of Hormuz, shortages have emerged in these countries, which has also affected Kyrgyzstan. We are trying, as far as possible, to address the problem,” he said during a meeting with residents of the Nookat district.
He further stated that talks have been held with Chinese investors, and construction has begun on a mineral fertilizer production plant in the Kulatov rural district.
