Hungarian opposition Tisza party could win majority, polls suggest
Hungary’s opposition appears set for a potential victory in the upcoming parliamentary elections, according to Median’s latest pre-election surveys.
Five representative surveys indicate that Peter Magyar’s Tisza party could secure 138–143 seats in the National Assembly, giving it a constitutional majority, Caliber.Az reports, citing Hungarian media.
In comparison, the ruling Fidesz party of Prime Minister Viktor Orbán is projected to win 49–55 seats.
The “Our Homeland” party could also enter parliament with 5–6 seats.
The surveys, conducted in late February and March with 5,000 respondents, show 48% of voters ready to support Tisza, 30% backing Fidesz, and 4% favoring the “Our Homeland.”
Other parties remain under 2%, while roughly 15% of voters are undecided or do not plan to vote.
Hungary’s parliamentary elections are scheduled for April 12.
