Hungary’s Tisza party names faction leader candidate
Hungary’s Tisza party has nominated Andrea Bujdosó to lead its parliamentary faction, according to party leader and incoming prime minister Péter Magyar.
Magyar announced the nomination in a Facebook post, stating that the faction will hold its first meeting on Monday, April 20.
“On Monday we will hold the first meeting of the Tisza faction. The unprecedented mandate we have received also means unprecedented responsibility. For the position of head of the largest and strongest faction, I propose Andrea Bujdosó,” he wrote, also wishing her good luck and congratulating her on her name day.
Bujdosó previously led the Tisza faction in the Budapest City Assembly. According to the party, she is a leadership development consultant with professional experience in economics and management. Her academic background includes studies in programming, mathematics, economics, and political science, and she has worked across multiple sectors.
In the most recent parliamentary elections, Bujdosó defeated Fidesz candidate Tamás Menczer in the Pilisvörösvár constituency (Pest 3), securing nearly 58% of the vote compared to 34.5%.
In 2024, she was included on party lists for both municipal and European elections. She later joined the Budapest City Assembly and became head of the Tisza faction in the capital following the resignation of the previous leader.
