Investigative Committee chairman threatens celebrities who left Russia
Chairman of the Russian Investigative Committee Alexander Bastrykin has warned the celebrities who left Russia and discredited the actions of the Russian army.
“The celebrities who left Russia and discredited the actions of the Russian army will be punished according to the law if they return. Such celebrities are unreliable. The position of such people is connected with their desire to please the policy of the countries where they reside. If one of them decides to return after a few years, they will have to answer for their actions according to the law,” Bastrykin said in an interview with TASS.
“The celebrities are engaged in discrediting the Russian armed forces to continue their activity abroad and make a profit,” he said adding that traitors are not welcome anywhere.
The Russian Investigative Committee filed 303 cases of spreading fakes about the Russian army over two years. Russian President Vladimir Putin signed a law allowing the confiscation of property for crimes against the country’s security on February 14. Those spreading fakes about the Russian army may be punished. The bill was submitted to the State Duma, the lower house of the Russian Federal Assembly, on January 22, the authors of the initiative were 395 MPs. The Kremlin insisted that the law was not similar to the seizure of property during the Soviet period.
