Iran, Armenia discuss energy cooperation prospects
Iran and Armenia have discussed prospects of bilateral energy cooperation on the sidelines of the 26th International Oil, Gas, Refining and Petrochemical Exhibition.
Managing Director of the National Iranian Oil Company Mohsen Khojestehmehr said that Iran is determined to promote its economic cooperation, especially in the energy sector, with Armenia, and export its fuel, gas, petrochemical products, refining know-how, and technical services to the neighbouring country, Iran's Shana.ir news website reports.
The Iranian official stressed that the two countries had boosted their economic cooperation, particularly in the gas, electricity, and other energy sectors.
Khojestehmehr expressed the hope that Armenian Territorial Administration and Infrastructures Minister Gnel Sanosyan's visit to Iran will give the countries an opportunity to further expand their cooperation.
For his part, Sanosyan, who is visiting Iran as part of the Iran Oil Show 2022, praised the latter's progress in the energy sector.
"What I saw at this big event stunned me. Iran’s governmental and private sectors’ equipment and capabilities in both oil and gas industries impressed me,” he said.
The top Armenian official also praised the progress made in Iran and expressed the hope that Yerevan-Tehran relations will be further deepened.
The Iran Oil Show 2022 began on May 13 at Tehran's Permanent Fairground and will end on May 16.
The four-day exhibition is hosting 1,200 Iranian and 44 foreign companies or their agents.
Apart from domestic participants representing Iran, foreign companies are from Italy, Spain, the United Arab Emirates, South Korea, Switzerland, Germany, Ukraine, South Africa, and Belgium.
