Iran calls for deeper trade, investment ties with UAE
Iran’s Minister of Economic Affairs and Finance, Ali Madanizadeh, met with the United Arab Emirates’ newly appointed Ambassador to Tehran, Khalid Abdulla Belhoul, on February 17 to discuss expanding trade, banking, and investment cooperation between the two countries.
Madanizadeh emphasised that the UAE is Iran’s second-largest foreign trade partner and highlighted the broad significance of existing economic relations, Mehr reports.
He stressed that while bilateral trade is already substantial, both sides should work to facilitate commercial and financial exchanges and strengthen banking interactions to unlock further potential.
The minister also underscored opportunities for Emirati investors in major projects across various sectors of Iran’s economy, including the digital economy, noting that government investment permits could enhance the attractiveness of such ventures. He further highlighted Iran’s strategic geographic position as a transit corridor to northern regional markets.
Ambassador Belhoul expressed optimism that the upcoming session of the Iran–UAE Joint Economic Commission, scheduled for next year, would serve as a valuable platform to further deepen economic and trade ties between Tehran and Abu Dhabi.
