Iran confirms no direct talks with US, labels proposals “unrealistic”
Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Esmaeil Baghaei confirmed that no direct negotiations with the United States have taken place, Nour News reports.
“What has been discussed are messages through intermediaries about the so-called desire of the US to engage in talks,” Baghaei said, underscoring that these have not amounted to formal negotiations.
He stressed that Iran’s position remains “clear and unchanged,” in contrast to the US, where “not everyone takes statements about diplomacy seriously.”
Baghaei added, “From the very beginning, Iran’s position has been clear, and we fully understand the framework of our demands. The proposals conveyed to us (15 points) were excessive and unrealistic. The meetings held by Pakistan are within the framework they themselves set, and we did not participate. It is good that regional countries are concerned about ending the war, but they should remember which side started it.”
