Iran launches missiles at US military sites in Kuwait, Bahrain
Iran and the United States exchanged military strikes across the Gulf region in a sharp escalation of tensions, with Tehran claiming to have targeted U.S. military facilities and Washington reporting the interception of Iranian missiles and drones.
The U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) said Iran launched seven ballistic missiles toward Kuwait and Bahrain following earlier U.S. operations against Iranian military assets, Caliber.Az reports.
According to CENTCOM, six of the missiles were intercepted, while a seventh failed to reach its intended target.

“Initial assessments indicate six of the missiles launched by Iran were intercepted and a seventh did not reach its intended target,” CENTCOM said in a statement.
The U.S. military added that there were no reports of injuries among American personnel and rejected Iranian claims that the headquarters of the U.S. Fifth Fleet in Bahrain had been damaged.
“There are currently no reports of harm to U.S. personnel, and Iranian claims of damaging U.S. 5th Fleet headquarters in Bahrain are false,” CENTCOM stated.
Earlier, U.S. forces reportedly shot down four Iranian attack drones launched toward the Strait of Hormuz and conducted strikes on Iranian coastal surveillance radar installations on Qeshm Island and in the Goruk area along Iran’s southern coast.
Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), in a statement carried by the semi-official Tasnim News Agency, said it had launched aerospace missile attacks against what it described as “enemy bases in the region.” Tehran said the operation was carried out in response to U.S. military actions targeting the Iranian city of Sirik and facilities on Qeshm Island.
The exchange prompted heightened security measures across the Gulf. Kuwait’s armed forces announced that air defense systems were actively intercepting aerial threats and sought to reassure residents following reports of explosions.
“The General Staff of the Kuwaiti Armed Forces confirms that any explosions that may be heard are the result of enemy targets being intercepted by air defense systems,” the military said.
In Bahrain, authorities activated emergency warning sirens and urged residents to remain in safe locations until further notice.
Iranian media reported that missiles targeted the U.S. Ali Al Salem Air Base in Kuwait as well as facilities associated with the U.S. Fifth Fleet in Bahrain. However, U.S. officials said none of the missiles successfully struck their intended targets.
