Iran signals gradual move to ease internet restrictions
Iran’s government policy is to open access to the global internet and gradually move toward lifting online restrictions, according to Elyas Hazrati, head of the government’s Information Council.
Hazrati said “the enemy’s strategy was Iran’s unconditional surrender, but the Iranian people showed they are willing to negotiate, but they will not surrender," Caliber.Az reports via Iran International.
He added that, following the war, the government should adopt a broader approach and create space for all Iranians to participate in governing the country.
Meanwhile, internet monitoring group NetBlocks said the digital blackout in Iran has now entered its twelfth week and is in its 78th day.
The group stated that the shutdown, which has left a country of around 90 million people largely offline for an unprecedented period, continues to undermine human rights, the economy, and basic freedoms at scale.
