Iran urges regional states to reject permanent US military presence
Iran has called on countries across the Middle East to prevent the United States and Israel from establishing a lasting military presence in the region, warning that such a development would undermine regional security.
Speaking at a press conference, Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Esmaeil Baghaei commented on reports in Western media alleging significant involvement by the United Arab Emirates (UAE) in supporting US and Israeli actions against Iran.
Baghaei said Tehran evaluates regional developments based on its own assessments and remains cautious about reports originating from Western sources, particularly when they emerge at sensitive moments.
He argued that such reports are often aimed at exacerbating tensions and divisions among countries in the region.
“However, we have our own independent assessment,” Baghaei said. “We have previously stated that, regarding certain countries in the region, we have no doubt that despite Iran’s warnings, they failed to fulfill their legal, moral, and neighborly obligations and provided their facilities and capabilities to the United States and the Israeli regime for attacks against Iran.”
The spokesperson reiterated Tehran’s call for regional governments to reassess their policies and draw lessons from recent developments.
“We continually call on these countries to correct their previous policies, draw lessons from the events of recent years, and prevent the military presence of the United States and Israel in the region from becoming a permanent source of insecurity for the peoples of the region,” he said.
