Iranian FM: Armed forces know how to respond to US threats
Iran’s Foreign Ministry stated on May 4 that the country’s armed forces are capable of responding to US threats, following US President Donald Trump’s announcement of Project Freedom, aimed at assisting vessels stranded in the Strait of Hormuz.
Spokesperson Esmaeil Baghaei said the Islamic Republic regards itself as the guardian and protector of the Strait of Hormuz, Caliber.Az reports, citing Iran International.
He accused the United States of persistently making excessive and unrestricted demands in its dealings with Tehran.
“The United States’ habit of excessive and unlimited demands does not end,” he said.
Baghaei further stated that Iran had received the US response via Pakistan and is currently examining it, but noted that they are facing a side whose position changes every day.
He added that Washington should by now understand it cannot deal with Iran using “the language of threats and force.”
Baghaei also said that any agreement with the United States would need to include Israel, reiterating that Iran’s position remains unchanged and that it does not recognise Israel.
