Iranian president proposes new cabinet with key changes
Iranian President Massoud Pezeshkian has submitted a list of candidates to the Majlis (parliament) for the formation of a new cabinet.
The proposed cabinet sees significant changes, with only two members from the previous administration—Minister of Information Ismail Khatib and Justice Minister Amin Hosein Rahimi—retaining their positions, Caliber.Az reports, citing Iranian media.
Among the new nominees are former Central Bank governor Abd-ol Nasser Hemmati as Minister of Economy and Abbas Araghchi, the Secretary of Iran's Strategic Council for International Relations, as Foreign Minister. Major General Aziz Nasirzadeh, currently the First Deputy Chief of General Staff of the Iranian Armed Forces, has been put forward for the role of Defense Minister.
Additionally, Farzaneh Sadegh, the Deputy Minister of Roads and Urban Construction and Secretary of the Supreme Council for Urban Construction and Architecture, has been nominated to head the Ministry of Roads and Urban Construction.
