Israel accepts Trump’s Gaza ceasefire proposal, foreign minister says
Israel has accepted a Gaza ceasefire proposal from US President Donald Trump, Israel’s Foreign Minister Gideon Saar said on September 8.
Speaking at a press conference with his Hungarian counterpart in Budapest, Saar said that Israel was ready to accept a full deal ending the war that would include the release of hostages and Hamas laying down its arms, per Al Arabiya.
“President Trump said it clearly yesterday, Israel said yes to his proposal. We are ready to accept a full deal that would end the war based on the cabinet's decision. Two things must happen. One, the return of our hostages. We... still have 48 hostages kidnapped from their homes on October 7th. Being held in Gaza today. Second thing, Hamas must lay down its arms.”
US President Donald Trump on Sunday suggested a Gaza deal could come soon, after earlier issuing what he called his “last warning” to the Palestinian militant group.
“The Israelis have accepted my Terms. It is time for Hamas to accept as well,” Trump wrote on his Truth Social platform. “I have warned Hamas about the consequences of not accepting. This is my last warning, there will not be another one!”
