Israel interrogates two activists from Global Sumud Flotilla
Israeli authorities have brought two detained participants of the Global Sumud Flotilla for questioning after the vessels were previously intercepted in the Mediterranean Sea, the Israeli Foreign Ministry announced.
According to the ministry, one of the detainees — Saif Abu Keshek — is suspected of links to a terrorist organisation, while the second, Thiago Ávila, is accused of illegal activity, Caliber.Az reports.
Further details of the allegations were not provided.
The ministry said the remaining participants of the so-called “Gaza regatta” have already been transferred to Greece.
On April 30, Israel reported it had intercepted more than 20 vessels carrying 175 activists.
Several countries, including Türkiye, Spain, and Italy, condemned the operation, suggesting it may have violated international law.
At the same time, the United States criticised the Global Sumud Flotilla itself, accusing it of supporting Hamas and undermining President Donald Trump’s peace initiative.
