Israel military chief dismisses former advocate general amid criminal probe
The Israeli military has announced the dismissal of its former Military Advocate General following an ongoing criminal investigation linked to the so-called “Sde Teiman” affair.
The Israel Defense Forces said the Chief of the General Staff, Lieutenant General Eyal Zamir, initially suspended the official from service immediately after suspicions emerged in the case, Caliber.Az reports.
According to a statement, given the continued criminal proceedings and the seriousness of the alleged conduct, the decision was taken to dismiss the former Military Advocate General from service without delay.
The IDF said the dismissed official will not be entitled to benefits linked to “service period completion.” It also noted that consideration could be given to a possible demotion once legal proceedings conclude and the facts are fully established.
The Minister of Defence has been informed of the decision.
The announcement comes after reports circulated in the media of a video showing guards at an Israeli military prison subjecting a Palestinian detainee to sexual violence. A major general has reportedly taken responsibility for the leak of the footage.
The investigation into the broader incident remains ongoing.
