Israel's new ambassador to Azerbaijan to assume post in July
The newly appointed Israeli Ambassador to Azerbaijan, Ronen Krausz, is set to take up his post in July.
According to Azerbaijani-Israeli Alliance Global News, citing a diplomatic source, Krausz is expected to arrive in Baku on July 28, after which he will formally commence his duties, Caliber.Az reports per local media.
Krausz, who previously served as Director of the Eurasia Department at Israel’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, was appointed to the ambassadorial role on January 12. He will replace outgoing ambassador George Deek.
Note that, Israel recognised Azerbaijan’s independence on December 25, 1991, with diplomatic ties formally established on April 7, 1992.
The two nations maintain strong political and economic relations, underpinned by a strategic dialogue. Since the 1990s, regular exchanges and cooperation have fostered close bilateral ties. Israeli companies play a key role in Azerbaijan’s development, particularly in agriculture, cyber security, and IT. Israel has consistently supported Azerbaijan’s sovereignty and territorial integrity both bilaterally and in international forums.
Azerbaijan is home to around 20 Jewish socio-cultural and charitable organisations, including the Jewish House, the Azerbaijan-Israel Society, the Azerbaijan Jewish Women's Association, and the Jewish Cultural Centre.
