Azerbaijani Speaker discusses strengthening bilateral ties with Jordanian ambassador
The Speaker of Azerbaijan's Milli Majlis, Sahiba Gafarova, has received the Ambassador of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan to our country for a conversation on the state of bilateral ties.
Ambassador Omar Barakat al-Nahar met the speaker on September 3, Caliber.Az reports citing the PR Department of Azerbaijan's parliament.
Gafarova highlighted the high-level bilateral relations achieved over the 32 years since the establishment of diplomatic ties between Azerbaijan and Jordan, describing the two countries as friendly and fraternal.
She also noted the current strong potential for further expanding cooperation across various fields.
In the course of the meeting, the sides praised the current level of inter-parliamentary relations between the two countries and emphasized the role of mutual visits and the activities of parliamentary friendship groups in deepening these ties.
The Parliamentary Network within the Non-Aligned Movement (NMO) was set up during Azerbaijan's chairmanship on its initiative, with Speaker Gafarova presiding over it as Chairperson. She expressed her satisfaction with the close involvement of the Jordanian Parliament in the parliamentarian group.
The Jordanian Ambassador to Azerbaijan al-Nahar expressed satisfaction with his work in Azerbaijan, thanked the Speaker for the meeting, and spoke about his efforts to further strengthen bilateral relations during his diplomatic tenure.
The ambassador emphasized that he would continue to work toward expanding ties between the two countries.
The sides also touched upon the progress that has been made on the signing of a peace deal between Azerbaijan and Armenia, the cooperation of the parliaments of Jordan and Azerbaijan within international organizations as well as other matters of mutual interest.
