Türkiye reaffirms support for Baku-Yerevan peace process
Türkiye will continue to back the ongoing normalization process between Azerbaijan and Armenia, Turkish Vice President Cevdet Yılmaz has affirmed.
In a statement published on his social media following a meeting with Azerbaijan’s Minister of Labour and Social Protection, Anar Aliyev, Yılmaz reiterated Ankara’s commitment to fostering long-term peace and stability in the South Caucasus, Caliber.Az reports citing Turkish media.
“We are pleased to further strengthen our cooperation with our brotherly Azerbaijan through joint commission meetings,” Yılmaz said. “Our relations, elevated to the level of alliance thanks to the Shusha Declaration, are opening new horizons in the fields of economy, social policy, and regional cooperation.”
He highlighted the significance of the August 8 agreement reached in Washington between Azerbaijan and Armenia, describing it as a "historic step" that has reinforced hopes for a sustainable peace in the region.
“Following the historic step taken on August 8 in Washington, our hopes for lasting peace and stability in the South Caucasus have grown even stronger. Our goal is to contribute to peace, stability, and prosperity in our region by further enhancing our shared development and humanitarian ties,” the statement concluded.
