Baku–Berlin consultations focus on energy, security, regional peace
A new round of political consultations between the Foreign Ministries of Azerbaijan and Germany in Baku, discussed energy, security, and regional peace.
The Azerbaijani delegation was led by Deputy Foreign Minister Fariz Rzayev, while the German side was headed by Niklas Wagner, Commissioner of the German Foreign Ministry for Eastern Europe, Caucasus, and Central Asia, Caliber.Az reports, citing Azerbaijan’s Foreign Ministry.
The sides reviewed the current state of political relations and bilateral cooperation, emphasising the importance of mutual visits and meetings on the margins of international events in maintaining a stable political dialogue. They also discussed the current status of and prospects for cooperation in the economic, energy, transport, and humanitarian spheres.
During the consultations, information was presented on strategic energy and transport projects implemented on Azerbaijan’s initiative and with its participation. The parties also exchanged views on expanding the legal and contractual framework and enhancing cooperation within international platforms.
The Azerbaijani side briefed its counterparts on regional developments, the process of normalisation of relations with Armenia, and the steps taken to ensure lasting peace. They also highlighted large-scale reconstruction, restoration, and demining efforts in the territories liberated by Azerbaijan.
The meeting concluded with an exchange of views on international issues of mutual interest.
