Bridge of Peace: Azerbaijan’s presidential aide holds talks in Gabala roundtable PHOTO/VIDEO
A bilateral roundtable meeting was held in Gabala as part of the "Bridge of Peace" initiative, bringing together representatives from the civil societies of Azerbaijan and Armenia.
During the event, Hikmet Hajiyev, Assistant to the President of Azerbaijan and Head of the Foreign Policy Department of the Presidential Administration, engaged with the participants and addressed questions from the Armenian delegation, Caliber.Az reports.
The meeting underscored the Azerbaijani government’s commitment to the peace agenda, the text of the peace treaty with Armenia agreed upon in Washington, and the overall spirit of the Washington summit.
In addition, the launch of trade relations between the two countries and the facilitation of goods transit to Armenia through Azerbaijani territory were noted, and it was emphasised that the implementation of the TRIPP project will help transform the regional atmosphere and transport landscape.
Hajiyev underscored the importance of such meetings between civil societies, noting that confidence-building measures should be bilateral, just like the ongoing peace negotiations between Azerbaijan and Armenia. He stressed that, in the context of ongoing regional upheavals and wars, ensuring peace and security in the South Caucasus remains a top priority.
