Senior officials from the Azerbaijani Ministry of Defence visited Uzbekistan this week to participate in the Staff Talks on Prospects of Cooperation in the Military Field.
The delegation, led by the Chief of the International Military Cooperation Department of Azerbaijan, met with a large Uzbek delegation representing relevant government and defence bodies. The discussions focused on the current state and future prospects of military and military-technical cooperation between the two countries, including the draft bilateral military cooperation plan for 2026, Caliber.Az reports via the Azerbaijani Defence Ministry.
During the visit, the Azerbaijani delegation toured the Chimgan mountain training centre. They also attended the graduation ceremony of the Mountain Warrior Course, which saw a group of Azerbaijani Army servicemen complete the program.
Azerbaijan and Uzbekistan have cultivated a robust military partnership rooted in mutual respect and shared strategic interests. Since the early 2000s, both nations have engaged in various defence dialogues and signed multiple agreements aimed at enhancing bilateral military and technical cooperation. Notably, in October 2023, the two countries signed a military cooperation plan for 2024 in Bukhara, underscoring their commitment to strengthening defence ties.
