Israel strikes targets in southern Lebanon in response to rocket attack attempt
The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) have launched a series of strikes on targets in southern Lebanon in retaliation for an attempted rocket attack on Israeli territory.
An Israeli drone targeted a vehicle on the Barashit (Brashit), Beit Yahoun road, while IDF artillery also shelled positions in the towns of Kfar Kila, and Yohmor, Caliber.Az reports per Israeli media.
At 07:50, Israel's early warning system was activated in the Upper Galilee, including in the areas of Kiryat Shmona, Tel Hai, Misgav Am, and Margaliot.
The IDF reported the launch of two rockets from Lebanese territory towards Israel. One missile was intercepted by Israel's missile defence system, while the second fell on Lebanese soil. There have been no reports of casualties from the attack.
To recall, Lebanon's Ministry of Public Health has confirmed the deaths of at least four people in two separate Israeli strikes in southern Lebanon. The attacks on March 27 targeted vehicles in the towns of Yohmor al-Shaqeef and Maaroub, with three fatalities in the former and one in the latter.
An Israeli drone and artillery shelling hit a car in Yohmor al-Shaqeef, while another drone strike targeted a vehicle in Maaroub. Israel's military stated that it was targeting Hezbollah operatives in both incidents.
Despite a ceasefire with Hezbollah in November, Israel has continued to conduct raids in Lebanon, claiming to target Hezbollah military sites. However, most of the casualties have been civilians.
