Israeli forces strike Lebanon after rocket attack by Hezbollah
Israeli military forces struck Lebanese territory in response to attacks on northern Israel.
They noted that a radical from the armed formations of the Shiite movement Hezbollah attempted to launch rockets toward the village of Arab al-Aramshe in northern Israel, Caliber.Az reports citing the Israeli army's press service.
The attempt failed, and the rockets did not reach Israeli territory.
Shortly after, the location of the radical, who had launched from the Wadi Hamul area in southern Lebanon, was identified, and the Israeli Air Force promptly targeted him.
In other northern regions, several attacks from Lebanon were recorded in recent hours, with most of the projectiles landing in uninhabited areas. There have been no reports of casualties. Israeli artillery returned fire on the sources of these attacks.
At least 60 rockets were launched from southern Lebanon into northern Israel on August 1, in the first attack since Tel Aviv assassinated top Hezbollah commander Fuad Shukr earlier this week in Beirut.
Israel’s public broadcaster, KAN, reported that the rockets were launched towards the Western Galilee, with 15 of them being intercepted.
An Israeli army statement said that five projectiles crossed from Lebanon into Israel, some of which were intercepted, and the rest fell in open areas.
No injuries were reported.
