Italy imports nearly 1.4 bcm of gas from Azerbaijan
Italy purchased natural gas from Azerbaijan via the Trans Adriatic Pipeline (TAP) in the amount of 465,421,790 euros in February 2023,
Eurostat told Trend that the export of natural gas from Azerbaijan to Italy in February amounted to 644.4 million cubic metres.
In total, from January to February 2023, Italy imported 1.377 billion cubic metres of Azerbaijani gas in the amount of 1.3 billion euros.
In the first two months of this year, 8 billion cubic meters of natural gas were produced in Azerbaijan. Azeri-Chirag-
Deepwater Gunashli produced 2.2 billion cubic metres of gas, Shah Deniz - 4.4, SOCAR - 1.4.
On annual basis, gas production increased by 4 per cent, that is, by 319 million cubic meters.
During the reporting period, gas exports amounted to 4.3 billion cubic meters, which is 13 per cent more than in the corresponding period last year.
Azerbaijan started gas supplies to Europe via the Southern Gas Corridor on December 31, 2020. The Trans Adriatic Gas Pipeline (TAP), the European section of the Southern Gas Corridor, has delivered a total of 22 billion cubic metres of gas since the start of commercial operation. This year, Azerbaijan plans to export 12 billion cubic metres of gas to Europe.
