Azerbaijani economy expands as GDP climbs 1.5% in early 2025
The Azerbaijani State Statistics Committee has announced that the economy showed steady growth in the first five months of 2025, with gross domestic product (GDP) reaching 50.099 billion manats ($29.47 billion) - a 1.5 per cent increase compared to the same period last year.
While the oil and gas sector experienced a 3 per cent decline in value added over the year, the non-oil sector grew by 3.9 per cent, highlighting ongoing diversification efforts beyond the traditional energy industry, Caliber.Az reports via local media.
Sectoral breakdown of GDP reveals that industry remains the largest contributor at 36.2 per cent, followed by trade and vehicle repair (9.9 per cent), transport and warehousing (7 per cent), and construction (6.2 per cent).
Agriculture, forestry, and fishing account for 4 per cent, with tourism and food services contributing 2.8 per cent, and information and communications representing 1.8 per cent. Other sectors make up 21.7 per cent, and net taxes on products and imports constitute 10.4 per cent of GDP.
GDP per capita for the period stood at 4,896.1 manats ($2.880).
