World Bank urges Azerbaijan to embed emissions targets
Azerbaijan should integrate carbon emission reduction goals and reduce automobile dependency in its urban master plans, a World Bank expert said during the 13th session of the World Urban Forum (WUF13) in Baku.
Mohamed Nada, Senior Urban Development Specialist at the World Bank, said cities must adopt concrete climate action measures to ensure sustainable urban development, Caliber.Az reports via local media.
"It is important for Azerbaijan to incorporate concrete climate action measures into its urban master plans: how to create more pedestrian-friendly environments and expand public transportation networks, how to establish efficient water resource management, how to address energy consumption issues and improve building energy efficiency, as well as other related aspects," Nada noted.
According to the specialist, WUF13 provides an important platform for the exchange of ideas, expertise, and practical experience in urban planning.
"World Urban Forum 13 serves as an effective platform for exchanging ideas, expertise, and practical experience in the field of urban planning," Nada said.
