Azerbaijan facilitates evacuation of foreign nationals from Iran via Astara border crossing
In a humanitarian gesture, Azerbaijan is assisting multiple foreign governments in evacuating their citizens from Iran through the Astara border crossing. The requests for aid came amid escalating tensions in the region following recent military strikes and security concerns.
According to Azerbaijani news agency APA, authorities in Azerbaijan have ensured safe and efficient passage for these individuals in line with humanitarian principles. Special arrangements were made at the border crossing, including a tea refreshment for evacuees to provide comfort during their transit.
Medical support was also on standby: an ambulance and a team of healthcare professionals were deployed to assist anyone experiencing health issues during the evacuation process.
Furthermore, buses were provided to transport the evacuees onward to their respective destinations, facilitating their safe and orderly repatriation.
