Azerbaijan’s envoy meets Syrian energy minister to boost cooperation

Azerbaijan’s Chargé d’Affaires in Syria, Elnur Shahhuseynov, met with Syria’s Minister of Energy, Mohammed al‑Bashir, to discuss avenues for bilateral cooperation in the energy sector.

The meeting was announced by the Azerbaijani Embassy via a post on X, Caliber.Az reports.

Both sides emphasised their commitment to strengthening ties and exploring joint projects in energy infrastructure and resources. 

Note that, on February 17, 2025, Azerbaijan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced the reopening of its embassy in Damascus, marking the resumption of full diplomatic presence after a 13‑year break.

The embassy’s chargé d’affaires has already been dispatched to Syria’s capital and officially taken up duties.
