Japan's Kishida pledges support for Ukraine against Russian offensive
06 January 2023 14:56
Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy discussed Russia's invasion of Ukraine in a telephone talk on January 6.
In a nearly 30-minute-long conversation, Kishida condemned Russia's continued attacks and pledged to do his best as the premier of the G7 chairing country to support Kyiv in order to protect the lives of Ukrainian people, NHK informs.
President Zelenskyy expressed his deep appreciation for Japan's position and explained the situation of the war to Kishida.
"The Ukrainian government has invited government officials from major countries to visit Kyiv, and I was also invited. Nothing has been decided at this point, but I would like to consider it based on various circumstances," Kishida said.
