Jordan to host ministerial meeting on Syria's future
Jordan's Foreign Ministry has announced that a ministerial meeting will be held in Jordan on December 14 to discuss the situation in Syria.
The meeting will bring together foreign ministers from Arab and international countries to discuss developments in Syria, Caliber.Az reports via foreign media.
Participants will include the foreign ministers of Jordan, Türkiye, Saudi Arabia, Iraq, Lebanon, Egypt, as well as representatives from the European Union and the United Nations. Arab foreign ministers are set to meet with Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan, EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Kaja Kallas and UN Special Envoy for Syria Geir Pedersen, the ministry added. US Secretary of State Antony Blinken has recently visited Jordan.
He held talks in Aqaba with King Abdullah II and Jordanian Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ayman Safadi. During the meeting, the King expressed respect for the choices made by the Syrian people and emphasised Jordan's concern for Syria's security and the well-being of its citizens.
The summit will aim to rebuild Syria's state institutions in a manner that upholds the country's unity, territorial integrity, sovereignty, security, stability, and the rights of all its citizens, according to the statement.
