Kazakhstan backs Armenia-Azerbaijan peace agreement following Pashinyan-Tokayev call

Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan held a telephone conversation with Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev to brief him on the latest developments regarding the peace process between Armenia and Azerbaijan.

During the call, Pashinyan shared details of the negotiations held in Washington on August 8, highlighting the initialing of the Agreement on Establishment of Peace and Inter-State relations between Azerbaijan and Armenia, Caliber.Az reports, citing Armenian media.

He also discussed a joint Armenian-Azerbaijani appeal to the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE) to formally dissolve the Minsk Group mechanisms—an entity long tasked with mediating the conflict.

Further, the Armenian Prime Minister outlined plans to unblock regional transportation and communication routes based on the principles of territorial integrity, sovereignty, legal jurisdiction, and mutual reciprocity. He also referenced the “Trump Route for International Peace and Prosperity” project, which aims to promote stability and development in the region.

President Tokayev welcomed the progress and congratulated Pashinyan on the breakthrough in Armenia-Azerbaijan relations. He voiced Kazakhstan’s support for the peace process and expressed optimism about its implications for regional stability and economic cooperation.

The sides also explored new investment opportunities that could emerge in the wake of the peace agreement. Both agreed that enhanced regional stability would boost investor confidence and attract capital flows to Armenia, Kazakhstan, and neighbouring countries.
