Türkiye blocks nearly 3,700 social media accounts linked to FETÖ
Türkiye has restricted access to 3,679 social media accounts linked to the FETÖ terrorist organisation over the past seven months, the Turkish Presidency's Directorate of Communications said.
The operations were carried out under the Directorate's coordination with the participation of the Cybercrime Department of the General Directorate of Security, the Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, and the Information and Communication Technologies Authority (BTK), Caliber.Az reports per Turkish media.
Following technical reviews and digital network analysis, authorities restricted access to a total of 6,644 accounts. Of these, 3,679 were found to be linked to FETÖ, while another 2,965 were blocked for promoting terrorism, spreading disinformation, and conducting psychological operations against Türkiye, according to the report.
The largest number of blocked accounts were on X (formerly Twitter), followed by Instagram, TikTok, Facebook, YouTube, and Spotify.
