Russia deports tens of thousands of foreign nationals in first half of 2026

Russia deported 43,700 foreign nationals and stateless persons to 59 countries between January and June 2026, a spokesperson for the Federal Bailiff Service (FSSP) told the newspaper Vedomosti.

According to the outlet's calculations, the figure is 65.5% higher than during the same period in 2025. The FSSP said that 26,400 foreign nationals and stateless persons were deported in the first half of last year, Caliber.Az reports.

Under Russian law, deportation is the forced and supervised removal of foreign nationals and stateless persons across Russia's state border. Courts may impose the measure as a form of administrative punishment.

On July 24, Russia's Federation Council approved a law that doubles the number of administrative offences for which foreign nationals can be deported.
